BREADA would like to thank the youth artists from 2004, 2007 and this year's 2010 project who have enhanced our Market with their artistic talents. Their creative designs express the mission of our organization. To learn more about this program contact us at market@breada.org
Using Main Street Market as a backdrop, youth artists design and create hand-painted table tops to reflect Louisiana’s food system and downtown Baton Rouge’s unique culture. The project is overseen by a local art educators who help students bring their vision to life. These tables are then used in Main Street Market for 3 years. The market provides a stage for the youth artists to show their art work. Then at the end of 3 years, new tables are created and the old ones are auctioned off to Market friends. The proceeds go back into the program and continue to expand the education of Buy Fresh, Buy Local.
This year's 2010 project culminated in a community artist recognition event at Main Street Market where the new Table Tops were unveiled in a celebration and jazz parade during the Saturday Market, August 14, 2010.

The mission of Big River Economic and Agricultural Development Alliance (BREADA) is to build a healthy and strong local food system; increase sustainability of independent local farmers, fishers and food producers; and foster stewardship of land and community through public markets. BREADA is the founder and parent organization of both Main Street Market and the Red Stick Farmers Markets.
